The team
This ambitious project brings together partners from a wide range of backgrounds: cooperatives, scientists, NGOs, artisan chocolatiers and organic fair-trade companies, who work in a complementary manner to reinvent cocoa farming, with respect for both people and nature.
Following the success of phase 1 of the project in the Dominican Republic, CACAOFOREST is now being rolled out in Côte d’Ivoire! The world’s leading cocoa producer. But it currently faces numerous challenges: declining soil fertility, ageing cocoa plantations, heavy pest pressure, and more.
Spanning three years (2025–2028), the CACAOFOREST project aims to restore soil fertility through agroforestry in order to ensure the sustainability of cocoa production.
