Giulia Mattalia, who had previously worked for the Cacao Forest project, has published an article in the journal Agroforestry Systems, in collaboration with Alexander Wezel, Pierre Costet, Patrick Jagoret, Olivier Deheuvels, Paola Migliorini and Christophe David.

The title of the 10-page article is “Contribution of cacao agroforestry versus mono‐cropping systems for enhanced sustainability. A review with a focus on yield.”

In the article, based on field results observed in the Dominican Republic while working for the Cacao Forest project, she argues that agroforestry applied to cacao guarantees a more sustainable cultivation method that monocrop models.

Agroforestry Systems is a leading international scientific journal in the field of agroforestry that publishes the results of high-impact research, critical analyses and short contributions on every aspect of agroforestry.
